One of my favorite contemporary English writer is Tibor Fischer. A lionized author translated in many languages. Born of refugee Hungarian parents, both basketball players.
His first novel "Under the frog" tells the story of a Hungarian basketball player dreaming to escape to west from the communist Hungary. In "Thought gang" we meet a middle aged philosopher turned to bank robbery in France. In "Don't read this book if you're stupid" we read six stories of eccentric and crazy characters and a narrative of his travel in revolutionary Romania.

Nicolas Sarkozy the son of a refugee Hungarian aristocrat father and a mother of French and Jewish descent became the president of France.
He is a right wing politician nicknamed Sarko known for his tough anti-immigration and labor policies.
The following a little biased but funny youtube video "Un Hongrois chez les Gaulois" (A Hungarian among the Gauls)" by reggae star Zędess mocks his view on immigration.
At least the melody of the video is good and has some good points to make.
"Pourquoi ton pčre a fui la Hongrie ?" refrain means "Why Did Your Father Flee Hungary".
Nevertheless has to be said that Sarkozy does not regard himself Hungarian and does not speak the language.
It's far fetched to label somebody fascist just because he proposes anti-immigration laws.
I only have to say to Mr. Sarkozy that Turkey and Russia belongs to Europe. ;-)

From the page: "From Attila:
I want to apologize for how long it has been since my last update. It is incredible how busy I am now with school. I have officially enrolled in Hungary..s media college and am doing it by correspondence. I would like to be a war correspondent and am studying journalism. I am taking many classes: basic journalism, style, literature and law. The law class is actually being taught to me here by a representative at the prison. All together it takes up most of my day, studying, reading and writing papers.
I am spending the little free time I have working with ceramics. Some of that work has been shown on Hungarian television and I have gotten a lot of positive feedback. Hopefully some photos of that work will be posted here soon. I..m doing figurative work. The only problem is that if there is a single air bubble in the work, it can explode in the oven, as it did the other day here, causing a mess.
My time on the phone is limited to five minutes so that is all for now. I am also sorry I do not have time to dictate responses to all of the individual email messages that have been sent to me but I am very appreciative of the support from everyone.
Szia (goodbye)."

Daring and dangerous, Attila Ambrus a Hungarian of Transylvania won the hearts of the Hungarian people when he became the country`s most famous bank-robbing, hockey-playing heartthrob. In 1993, Ambrus robbed his first bank in Hungary and by the time he was first arrested in 1999, he had robbed 29 banks and stolen nearly US $1-million - remarkably, robbing one state bank four times! While communism crumbled, Hungarians were disillusioned by rampant corruption and they embraced Ambrus as their Robin Hood - except for one greedy accomplice who betrayed him to the authorities and aided his capture. After escaping from the police station by scaling down a string of bed sheets from the rooftop, the entire nation cheered him on. T-shirts, buttons and Web sites glorified the iconic renegade and a German pop star recorded a song about him. Now serving a 17-year sentence, Ambrus is far from the limelight. But with a book deal and feature film in the works, his legend may make him more money than his career as a criminal ever did.
Want to read the book?. It's called "Ballad of the Whiskey Robber" by Julian Rubinstein. Welcome to Julian Rubinstein's uproariously funny and unforgettable account of crime in the heart of the new Europe. With a cast of backup characters that includes car wash owners, exotic dancers, drunk army generals, cocaine-snorting Hungarian rappers, the Johnnie Cochran of Budapest, and a hockey team that seems to spend as much time breaking the law as they do practicing, Ballad of the Whiskey Robber gives us the most charming outlaw-hero since the Sundance Kid - and the Sundance Kid didn't play hockey.
The rights to the book have been purchased by Warner Brothers with Johnny Depp attached to play Ambrus.
Attila is now 39 years old and lives in a maximum security prison in northeast Hungary, from where he blogs at myspace.com/thewhiskeyrobber
From his blog regarding this video:
"There is new video footage of me on the site. Most of it has never been seen before outside of Hungary. Some of it has never been seen before at all, the parts taken from bank surveillance cameras during my robberies. And also some clips from my own personal home videos when I was on vacation in Thailand with my (then) girlfriend Eva, in Thailand. Yes that trip was paid for with the robbed money.
You can also see how the government treated me after I was captured. Even though I never hurt anybody and I immediately confessed to all of my crimes, I was held in an all-glass cage built for a serial killer and was always surrounded by armed guards. Probably because they were so embarrassed about my escape from the jail on a bedsheet... But I did not deserve to be treated like that. No one deserves to be treated like that. I still do not want to even think about the first year I spent in captivity."

He made bank tellers swoon. He was madly pursued by the Mound of Asshead. In a rare prison interview, the Robin Hood of Hungary looks back at his wild ride through the ruins of the Soviet bloc.

Szarka Tamás: Ring - Ropes
The cartoon has very good music

Szarka Tamás - Ring
Felszakad a szemhéj,
Ringbe ha születtél,
Az a Te hibád, hogy
Ábel az apád!
Káin is csak ember,
Működik a rendszer,
Meg kell halni annak, aki jó!
Szarka Tamás - Ropes
Your eyelids are torn,
If you are born in the ropes,
It's your fault
that Abel is your father!
Cain too is just a man
The system works,
The good one must die!
Indeed pretty somber verses.
